The Roswell United Methodist Church's DARE team joined with long time partner Dunwoody UMC's DART team to form an Early Response Team (ERT.) Our goal is to assist survivors of Hurricane Isaias in Pensacola, FL. The team included volunteers from Roswell UMC, Dunwoody UMC, Chamblee UMC, Oak Grove UMC. McKendree UMC, Northpoint Community Church and the DDRCs from Jacksonville and Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Day 1 saw the team work with 2 homeowners and the local Methodist Home for Senior Citizens. Our trained chainsaw volunteers removed damaged trees, limbs and provided assess to the properties. The debris was moved to the street for future pickup. We'll continue with chainsaw, roof tarping and home muck-out work for the next 2 days.
Days 2 and 3 was more of the same with chainsaw work and roof tarping. Many thanks to Gulf Breeze UMC for hosting our team as well as several others from around the southern United States.
If you are interested in joining a future ERT please contact DARE and we'll provide contact information for an ERT led by Northside UMC. This team is being planned for deployment beginning on November 10th.
