The Roswell United Methodist Church sent its DARE team to Augusta, GA on our 15th trip in 2026. DARE had 35 total volunteers from 10 different churches and groups working with the team over our 3-day deployment. Members from Roswell UMC, East Cobb UMC, Chamblee UMC, Dunwoody UMC, Oak Grove UMC, Northside UMC, Northpoint Community, Mt. Pisgah Methodist, Habitat for Humanity and an Individual Volunteer. Special thanks to Advent Lutheran Church for hosting our team. DARE was able to continue and complete Long-Term Disaster Recovery assistance for six separate homeowners during this deployment.
The Georgia Conference of the UMC reported that the Long-Term Recovery Effort that began in February 2025 has seen 85 volunteer teams work in the Augusta, GA area. The Roswell United Methodist Church’s DARE team has accounted for 22 of these teams. DARE continues to lead the way in Georgia’s Disaster Response Ministry.
Let us all understand that once the news cycle changes and a new story-of-the-day becomes the current topic, the disaster survivors continue to suffer. DARE is committed to our mission of being a group that can be counted on for the Long Term. As our guiding scripture (Luke 5: 17-26) illustrates, after an event there might still be a hole in the roof. DARE will always be there to “Fix the Roof.”
Our next scheduled deployment will be November 19th to 21st. This will be our last scheduled Long-Term Recovery trip of 2026. Join the team and help make the Christmas season even more special for the survivors of Hurricane Helene.
